Hey there, I’m Cynthia…
I am Cynthia St.Clair, MA, LPC, LCMHC, psychotherapist, and women’s emotional wellness specialist. My professional interests lie in the intersectionality of women’s moods, trauma, and hormones; I love supporting clients experiencing Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), the perimenopausal shift, high-sensitivity, and unprocessed trauma. My path in women’s mental health began because I, myself, am I PMDD survivor; and while I’ve had fabulous psychotherapists over the years, no one ever asked me about menstrual cycle, or my hormones; so I essentially decided to be the counselor I could never find!
As the owner of Saint Clair Counseling and Consulting, I bring my integrative values of mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and somatics to every aspect of my practice. Since 2018, I have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of women on their healing paths, which allowed me to develop a unique and effective Bio-Psycho-Social treatment model for PMDD. In 2022, I was honored to be a guest speaker on The PMDD Healing Podcast to discuss the role of DBT specifically in PMDD treatment protocols. I offer remote individual and group therapy to residents of North Carolina and Colorado, professional supervision, teaching, women’s retreats, and have my first book brewing…
Before I was a psychotherapist, I was a professional dancer and choreographer, and while I no longer have an artistic practice in this way, I find that the creative lens still deeply colors my worldview. I found my way to psychotherapy through dance, as I studied yoga and became hungry to learn all I could about mind-body connection and healing. This brought me to enroll in a Dance/Movement Therapy program at Naropa University, which truly set me on the path I am on today. I now reside in Southern Appalachia where I can be found baking sourdough bread, wildcrafting herbs, and slowing down in the forest every chance I get.

"The so-called negative emotions have tremendous power. Emotional alchemy is not about taming or transcending this power but about befriending it and using it for the good of ourselves, others, and the planet.”
~ Miriam Greenspan, Healing Through the Dark Emotions
